Annotating Things using the PIMO Thing Editor
Prerequisite:
- You have gnowsis installed and running (see installation
step-by-step
tutorial in gnowsis-doc)
- You are willing to spend some time using the semantic
Desktop
Procedure:
If you haven't done so yet, you should create the thing you want to
annotade. This can be done using the Kaukolu Wiki (see Wiki
walkthrough) or using the Miniquire. To edit your PIMO you can use the
few buttons on above the PIMO tree structure.
They are (from left to right):
- filter tree for instances or classes
- minimize tree
- expand tree
- add class
- add thing
- reload PIMO tree
- delete class/thing
After you did so, your Miniquire should look something like this:

Now the annotation can start: double click the thing you want to
annotate. The PIMO Thing Editor should pop up.

There are two ways to state, that the current Thing Leo Sauermann "knows" Dominik Heim:
1) Drag 'n' Drop
Drag the Thing "Dominik
Heim" from Miniquire to the right side of the PIMO Thing
Editor that is called relation panel (because it shows all the
relations) and drop it in there.

Now that "Dominik Heim"
is shown you only neet to name the relation. You can choose one of the
default relations or you can enter whatever you want the relation to be
called. In this case we will name it "knows". After
clicking on the "add"
button, the annotation is made and it is shown directly. The inverse relation that "Dominik Heim" (inverse of) knows "Leo Sauermann" is done simultaneously. If you detect a typo you can fix it double clicking the predicate and rename it.

2) Filter it out
Enter the name of the thing / resource you want to link with Leo
Sauermann in the seach field on the bottom of the relation panel. After
you started typing, The Gnowsis will propose several things / resources
thay may fit your search.

Now that "Dominik Heim"
is
shown you only neet to name the relation. You can choose one of the
default relations or you can enter whatever you want the relation to be
called. In this case we will name it "knows".
[HINT: If you are linking a resource there's only the possibility of addOccurrence]
After
clicking on the "add"
button, the annotation is made and it is shown directly. The inverse relation that "Dominik Heim" (inverse of) knows "Leo Sauermann" is done simultaneously. If you detect a typo you can fix it double clicking the predicate and rename it.
