IRC-Chat: During the workshop, I would suggest to use the #gnowsis channel on IRC-Net on freenode to communicate. For short: irc://irc.freenode.net/gnowsis. IRC is a good protocol to run in parallel and served us well on other occasions. Many SemWeb? people have accounts there on freenode and its useful to hang out in #swig there, also. There are different clients for IRC, one is the jabber/icq/irc integrated miranda-im which leobard uses. mIRC is also well-known.
We will document most of the things we did here on this wiki and I would suggest to upload photos we make to flickr or photothing so that we can share them. As a TAG for this meeting, I would suggest "semdesk hack 2005" adding berlin as a second tag. Add your photos to this flickr group pool.

Needful things
If possible, attendends should bring the following with them to allow as much collaboration as possible. The workshop and hands on days will be run in pairs - two people should share one laptop to work and learn together.
- Laptop & power adapter european 220V
- Power cable (the plugs are far from the wall)
- Wifi support
- your own project code (in whatever language/environment it runs)
- presentations/papers about your own project
- Eclipse 3.1 with subclipse SVN package installed
- WLAN-Mac Adresses: falls eure WLAN-Mac Adresse nicht an den Thomas geschickt wurde oder falsch eingegeben wurde: nehmt vielleicht ein ausgekreuztes LAN kabel mit um an jemanden anderen "anzudocken".
- Es gibt kein Festnetz-LAN.
Getting Started
We have three CDs? with us, where a complete Eclipse plus a workspace with all projects is provided as a neat zipfile.
Then go to the first steps to gnowsis development.
